Post 4: Clarify the world progress on the chosen SDG

Gender equality and women’s empowerment are considered as the most important objectives for the Sustainable Development, as well vital for the awareness and realization of the rights and potentials related to humankind. In order to highlight the progress towards systematic and effective gender mainstreaming and to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in activities, policies and .organizational practices, we are presenting examples about different contributions in this field

One of the most important examples is establishing the international strategy for gender equality and women's empowerment (2021) by United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV). This strategy obligates all employees to confront gender-based discrimination and harassment, confront them and investigate their unconscious bias, with the aim of promoting an organizational culture. In 2021, the United Nations on Drugs and Crime (UNODC/ UNOV) has become a workplace where employees actively promote gender equality and women's empowerment in all aspects of corporate operations and programmatic activities. In addition, this strategy indicates that it is the employees' responsibility for evaluating the implications for men and women

In the same context and for another example, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) has invested in gender equality as a means of achieving sexual rights and health. According to this investment, IPPF has established the strategic plan of (2021) which has made a significant progress.

This strategy has guaranteed equal opportunities for humankind (either man or woman) and made them able to enjoy this equality so that they can realize their full rights and potential. In addition, IPPF has presented some surveys showing that 19% of women aged 15-49 said they had experienced physical and/or sexual violence, More than 1 in 4 women aged 20 to 24 years reported that they were married .before the age of 18, and so on

For the strategy's sake, IPPF have developed considerable and reliable tools in order to collect gender equality data and support the best programs, training and enhancing employees 'capabilities and experience in this field, necessity for concentrating and good response and resources, developing non-discriminatory legislation which guarantees gender equality, considering the necessary mechanisms to engage civil society organizations in a meaningful way and elimination of harmful practices between

the men and women.

Post 5: Provide 2 examples of local organizations/companies who have worked on achieving this goal

A local example of gender equality in the Arab world is an agreement between Aramco and Princess Noura University to establish a business center with an integrated female staff to provide services such as information technology. This center serves many sectors such as the health care sector and the oil and gas sector .   Princess Noura University seeks to invest its potential and energies to achieve enlightenment of the reality of Saudi women with knowledge, values    and work and to raise their percentage in the labor market, in addition to SABIC as well.   SABIC noticed a lack of possibilities for women to study scientific, technical and engineering fields. In 2019, it launched a scholarship program for high school graduates to ensure that they could continue education and find more job opportunities.   Make SABIC the preferred destination for women working in the chemical fields, and this initiative enables women to take leadership positions and make them role models for others
